3D Printer Build

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This is a 3D printer that took roughly 2 weeks to build, the build volume is 300x300x400mm. The electrical wiring was all done by myself and a friend and we even upgraded the extruder nozzle. This is an FDM printer and it works by: heating up the PLA or ABS or any other material and then extruding it through the hot-end & the design that is printed is “sliced” using an application such as Cura, and it lays out the design layer by layer

The printer itself is highly accurate as seen in the images below and the frame is large. I have it connected via network using OctoPrint so that I can print wirelessly (without needing to put an SD card into the printer or without needing to stand at the laptop connected to the printer). OctoPrint also allows me to remotely watch prints via webcam (and create timelapses too!). Any of the 3D modelling on objects to be printed is typically done using either Autodesk Fusion 360 or TinkerCAD.
